A Mooncup menstrual cupThere are a multitude of names for the, well... lady garden. But all too often we girls will avoid the subject altogether.

But a new advertising campaign by Mooncup aims to get us talking about our vaginas, whatever we call them.

Posters featuring the varying titles we give our down-belows, from fru-fru through vajay-jay to bajingo, are now adorning sites across the UK.

But there is a serious message behind the fun, if controversial, campaign.

The Mooncup offers an eco-friendly alternative to the tampon and the sanitary towel, most of which are clogging our sewage systems or languishing in landfill.

It is estimated that each one of us will throw away 11,000 tampons or pads during our lifetime.

Made from medical grad silicone, the Mooncup contains no dyes, bleaches or pesticides and are the brainchild of Brighton entrepreneur Su Hardy.

The makers of the product hope that the ads will encourage women to take better care of their lady gardens.

Kath Clements, Campaigns Manager for Mooncup, told Marie Claire: "We hope the ads will get women thinking, smiling and talking about their vaginas."

So if you're looking for some eco-friendly care for your coochie, the Mooncup is now available in Boots or at mooncup.co.uk.
