When a fire broke out in a transsexual brothel in Switzerland, its tenants and visitors scrambled to safety.But for one survivor there is an even greater fear – that of recognition.
The man in question, known only as "Memeth J" by newspaper Blick, was caught naked and clinging onto a balcony at the burning building in Basel.
While he insists that he was only visiting his transsexual friend of some 10 years, "Tamilo H", Memeth claims he had fallen asleep and woke to find the apartment on fire.
But as he escaped the flames, he found himself in full view of firefighters, TV crews and photographers.
The man remained on the balcony until firefighters promised to cover his face.
Memeth, though, still has some concerns.
"I just hope my family can't tell who I am from my bottom," he told Blick. "I'm gay, but my family don't know about me so I couldn't show my face."
We, however, fear that his family may be have their suspicions when he arrives home in different clothes.
